Affiliate Marketing – a new way to use the Internet
Recently I helped a ‘start-up national charity’ in the UK to get affiliate links into and from their website. This created income and publicity for the charity and was my first encounter with affiliate marketing programs.
Being a very new form of trading many people have heard of it, but don’t quite know what it is.
Well, let’s define it as the Internet equivalent of the “Finders Fee”.
The best affiliate programs will offer you commission for every purchase made by a customer referred from your site.
It is usual for the affiliate to build their business around a website, focusing on a targeted part of the population (in affiliate jargon, this is a ‘niche’). This could be anything at all as long as the site attracts visitors and holds their interest.
Depending on the company, commissions can range from 10-60%. The marketers that do well, make comfortable incomes and are very successful with their work at home career.
Many marketers have included a "network marketing affiliate program" to run alongside their web-based site(s). This allows the technology of the Internet and search engines to attract people to their core business.
As with most people, my understanding of the power of the Internet has developed slowly. My charity experience really opened my eyes.
Here are my top 5 benefits of Internet affiliate marketing:
- The low-cost entry.
- It’s an Internet industry that is redefining how people purchase.
- A growing education and training forum on how to get started exists.
- It can be extra income for your site or it could be a niche-site by using affiliate links.
- Stand-alone affiliate sites using specialised easy-to-use software can be downloaded to get you started.
The one we use is shown below.

This site was built to get information across, about the great products and alternative incomes I found, using traditional network marketing resources.
I quickly realised the benefits offered by affiliate links as a way of reaching more people and building a strong Internet home business.
And yes, I followed an affiliate software program and if I can do it, so can anyone.
